Gold Panda dropped his latest track, MPB, via the Gold Panda site this morning, providing us with a wonderfully tight and rhythmic electronic jam not marked by a hint of recklessness. Instead, the track further exemplifies just how much he deserves his role within the market, as that of a leader who goes from strength to strength with his calm and controlled, mathematical dance music, riddled with polyrhythms and discordial, oriental-themed melodies. MPB is just that, and keeps its head down, rolling forth with a relentless drive and a hard-edge synthesised grit which eventually descends into a scratchy solo-like Eastern melody line. MPB is an excellent return, and one which will accompany a spate of Gold Panda UK Tour Dates for the Autumn (via This Is Fake DIY).

On Sunday I made my way down to the Netaudio event at the Roundhouse, a yearly event, conference, broadcast and live music convention for which my commissioned piece, a This Music Wins special outlining my thoughts on the stylistic future of experimental music on the internet, went out at 4.30pm via Roundhouse Radio and Resonance 104.4 FM London. Though trains prevented me from catching the headlining ‘Nurse With Wound’ at KOKO that evening, I did manage to catch an interesting set from abrasively captioned ‘Cuntbucket’ - who played a seemingly improvised and jazz-infused noise piece for around 40 minutes up in the open space.
